CARSON CITY, Nevada -- Champion Motor Speedway will host the 1st annual Charter Media “Racin’ Roundup” this weekend (April 4-5-6) at the Carson Mall in Carson City, Nevada. All interested CMS racers and car owners who would like to present their racecars for this special event, are urged to contact the CMS business office ASAP at (775) 884.3045.
Pre-show setup will be Thursday April 3 between 5-7PM, and post-show rollout will be from 1-3PM on Sunday April 6.
The show will feature entries from the Charter Super LateModel, Western Modified, Legend, Limited LateModel, Les Schwab Street Stock, TagTeam Bomber, Hustlin’ Hornet, and Bandellero divisions.
Also on display, will be the brand-new Capital Ford Mustang Coupe pace car, Harry Gant #33 NASCAR Winston Cup stockcar, and the ultimate in entry-level racing … the all-new EconoBox series display.
Various racers will be on hand to sign autographs from 6PM-8PM on Friday, 4PM-8PM on Saturday, or 11AM-1PM on Sunday.
Carson Mall manager Irene “Tweetie” Bobenstein announced that the Carson Mall Association will provide special souvenir autograph pads for the racers to sign.
The Carson Mall is conveniently located at 1313 S. Carson Street (Hwy 395) in Carson City.
Also upcoming on the pre-season schedule will be “Media Day” on April 12. Area media will be on hand to interview and take pictures of the CMS racers as they prepare for the 2003 season. This will also be the first test & tune session of the season. The track will be open for practice from 1 PM - 4 PM.
Also new for 03’ … the best-looking car contests, presented by “Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving”. Every racer will have the opportunity to present their freshly painted racecar (by division) in hopes of winning a highly coveted “best looking car” trophy. The contests will be held on the front chute, prior to the first FastFour TrophyDash, and the fans in the stands will decide the outcome.
CMS race fans will also have plenty to look forward to this season at the historic 1/3-mile high-banked asphalt oval celebrates it’s “40th” year of continues operation.
In the works for 2003 will be a wide variety of family-oriented activities including: Earnhardt Memorial Park, Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving Bicycle Races, CMS Kids Klub, and a new non-smoking family seating section in turn one.
