Houston, Texas (April 11, 2003) -- Three-time ASA Racing Series champion Butch Miller of Coopersville, Mich. posted the quickest lap in practice for the ASA Racing Texas 250 at Houston Motor Speedway. Miller, driving the number No. 52 Timber Wolf car, toured the .375-mile oval in 14.660 seconds at 92.087 mph.

"We weren't quick to the end, when we did a mock qualifying run," Miller said. "The car is plenty quick. Houston Motor Speedway is like any new track we go to. It takes time to get the rubber down. This is a very green race track."

Second-year driver Todd Kluever of Wisconsin posted the second fastest time of the afternoon with a lap of 14.789 seconds at 91.408 mph. Series veteran Robbie Pyle was third fastest followed by Peter Cozzolino of Indiana and Rick Beebe of Kansas.

Texas drivers including Kyle Burts of Tomball, Chris Davidson of Pearland, Kent Baltzell of Spring, Casey Smith of Austin, John Silverthorne of Dallas, Kenny Bumbera of Sealy and Doug Hooks of Dripping Springs all posted respectable practice times.

On Saturday, practice resumes at noon (CDT) with pole qualifying scheduled for 4 p.m. The ASA Racing Texas 250 goes green at 8 p.m.

Tickets are still available through the ASA office at a cost of $25 for general admission seats. Discounts are available when purchasing in advance. For additional information, contact the ASA ticket line at 1-888-ASA-1020.####
