INGLEBRIGHT WINS WINSTON WEST RACE, KALITTA SETS RECORD, ROSS COLLECTS HOOTERS WIN

** NASCAR Winston West Series: Jim Inglebright collected his first series victory in just his second start, winning the Orleans 222 at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the series.

Inglebright edged CT Hellmund at the finish. Mark Reed was third, Steve Portenga took fourth and Gene Woods rounded out the top five.

Inglebright leads the championship standings two races into the 2003 season. Hellmund is second.

** National Hot Rod Association: Doug Kalitta recorded the fastest speed in NHRA history on his way to winning the Top Fuel portion of the O’Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas.

Kalitta’s record-breaking speed was 333.91 mph, breaking the record set by Larry Dixon one race earlier. Kalitta also had the best elapsed time of the weekend with a run lasting 4.486 seconds.

Kalitta was one of five drivers to take class wins on Goodyear tires. Goodyear has an industry-best 29 wins this season in NHRA national competition.

Tony Pedregon won in Funny Car and Kurt Johnson won in Pro Stock.

Bob Newberry won the Top Alcohol Funny Car final while recording the best elapsed time of his career. Newberry was clocked at 5.572 seconds.

Mike Trumble defeated Brian Self to win the Competition Eliminator final.

Peter Biondo’s victory in Stock Eliminator repeated his 2002 victory.

** USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series: Brian Ross collected his sixth career victory when he won the Lucas Oil 250 at Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, PA. The race was a Northern Division contest.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for the series.

Ross passed Hal Goodson to take the lead on lap 161 and was never headed. Ross beat second-place finisher Eric Corbett by just .967 of a second. Jeff Agnew finished third, Kertus Davis was fourth and Jason McLellan came home fifth.

Danny Sammons won the Advance Auto Parts Pole Award.####
