ANTIOCH, California --After an exciting mid race duel with Tom Henry, John Hendrickson scored the victory in the 25 lap All Pro Series Wingless Spec Sprint Main Event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. The win paid Hendrickson $600 aboard his Hendrickson's Custom Woodwork sponsored Sprinter. Henry was a late spin victim as Ricky Williams made a last lap move around Daryl Moore to finish second.
An impressive 29 car field of Wingless Spec Sprints filled the pits to tune up for next week's Del Quinn Memorial Race. Williams made a Turn 2 pass around Hendrickson on lap seven to win his eight lap heat race. Other heat winners were Billy Fraser, Joey Santos and Moore. Fraser also won the four lap Trophy Dash. Sam Fries won a non stop 14 lap B Main ahead of Brandi Ford and David Goodwill.
Henry had the pole for the Main Event with Hendrickson starting third and Darrell Hanestad 12th. Henry settled into the early lead ahead of Hendrickson and Roy Fisher. NCMA point leader Scott Holloway moved the Dave Jenson owned Stinger into third on lap three, and a red flag flew on lap five when Danny Olmstead rolled in Turn 2 without injury. Henry continued to lead Hendrickson and Holloway on the restart. Holloway pitted with motor problems to hand third to Moore, and an inside move on the front stretch of the tenth lap gained Hendrickson the lead from Henry. Moore moved in to challenge Henry for second and an inside pass in Turn 2 of the 16th lap gained Moore second. Henry spun for a lap 23 caution flag. Hendrickson led Moore and Williams on the restart as Hanestad was now fourth. On the last lap, Williams made an outside pass in Turn 2 to take second from Moore, and Hendrickson brought it home to a well earned victory ahead of Williams, Moore, Hendrickson and Fraser.
