EL CAJON, California -- There will be five divisions taking to the Cajon Speedway pavement this Saturday night for round three of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series. For three of those divisions, it will the first time this year that the drivers have taken to the 3/8-mile paved oval in competition.

The local Grand American modifieds and factory stocks will be joined by the traveling legend car series in their first appearance of the season at the track. Making their third appearance of the year will be the street stocks and bomber stocks. The NASCAR late model sportsman and pony stocks will have the night off.

Race time is 6:45 PM. Qualifying runs start at 5:15 PM. Practice starts at 4:00 PM. Admission prices remain the same as last year - $10 for adults on the east side and $9 on the west side. Kids from 6 12 are only $3. Children under the age of 6 are free when accompanied by an adult.

There are expected to be lots of changes in the open wheeled Grand American division this year. Returning to defend his 2002 track championship will be Scott Brown. Mike Salm and Mike Jackson will be back to take up the challenge. Jimmy Dickerson, who claimed honors in 1998, has told track officials he will be returning to the division on an occasional basis this year.

The division figures to have an increased car count this year. Among those who have indicated they will join the battle this year is Pat Garity, Andy Papp, John Luecht, and Don Kerr. Kerr drove in the division several years ago before graduating to the late model sportsman. Garity was the bomber stock titlest in 2000 and is taking his first stab at the modifieds. Papp is moving up from the pony stocks. Luecht had a few starts last year. He will be driving full time in 2003 in the car his father, Steve Luecht, has campaigned previously.

Other hopefuls in the class include Ivan Harrison, Doug Catania, Brian Pusey, Lou Tompkins, Steve Lloyd, and Dave Wade.
