CARSON CITY, Nevada -- The long off-season at Champion Motor Speedway is about to come to an end this weekend. This Saturday night, “Coors Light” presents the “Charter SilverCup Classic” featuring the Charter Super LateModels, Western Modifieds, Limited LateModels, TagTeam Bombers, and Hustlin’ Hornets.
Also on tap will be the debut of the “FastFour TrophyDash” series and the Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving kids bicycle races.
However right before the beatin’ and bangin’ gets under way - Longs Jewelers will present the “best looking car” contest. Every racer competing that night will be eligible to present their racecar, and the fans in the stands will decide the outcome.
Attending race fans will see considerable changes and improvements for the 2003-racing season. Numerous improvements have been completed throughout the speedway, including new landscaping and walkways at the main entrance, new family and handicap seating in the main grandstands, new VIP Hospitality Village, an improved PA system, along with new MUSCO© lighting, and freshly painted facilities. Kids can look forward to spending their Saturday nights at the all-new Earnhardt Memorial Park presented by Fun Jumpers. The new park will feature a Kids Klub, bounce houses, the Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving bicycle races, the EconoBox races, face painting, and much more.
But perhaps the most important improvement will be made to the racing surface itself. The 1/3-mile, high-banked, asphalt oval is currently receiving a complete facelift including; repairing and filling all cracks, complete surface re-grinding and resealing, and newly painted upper/lower white lines. The end result will feature an attractive racetrack, along with quicker lap times, and dramatically improved side-by-side racing action.
All regular racing divisions will see a 10%-15% increase in their weekly purses and additional opportunity to increase weekly earnings through the new “Racin’ Buck Bonus Plan”.
Also new for 03’ will be divisional championship “40th anniversary” diamond rings (valued at $950.00 each) provided by new winners circle sponsor, Long’s Jewelers. All eight regular divisions will be eligible to win a championship diamond ring. The regular 2003 lineup will feature the Charter Super LateModels, Western Modifieds, Limited LateModels, Les Schwab Street Stocks, Legends, TagTeam Bombers/Freakin’ Figure 8’s, Hustlin’ Hornets/Queen Beez, and Bandoleros.
This Saturday night the front gates open at 5pm and the shows starts at 7PM.
