YAKIMA, Washington -- NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series late model points leader, Scott Walker, earned his second in three 2003 starts and put himself in a position to net a $1,000 bonus next weekend if he can win three straight main events at Yakima Speedway.

Greg Kulhman captured his second straight win in the Better-All Auto Sales Super Stock class and can join Walker as a three-in-a-row winner and bonus holder with a win on May 24. Richard Cagle earned his first main event victory of the 2003 season in the Boomers Roadside Bar & Grill Street Stock division.

Mike Longton set fast time in the late model division and earned a $100 bonus. Longton’s second fast time of the season gives him the lead for a $750 bonus at the end of the season for the most fast time awards for the season in the division. Kulhman broke his own track record in Super Stock qualifying, lowering the quick lap record to 20. 228 seconds around the .500-mile facility.

Erick Hargraves earned a track record for his Street Stock qualifying run of 23.091 seconds at Yakima Speedway.

In the 75-lap main event for the late model division, Travis Bennett shot to an early lead and began lapping cars up to eighth place Christopher Kaltch by the events middles stages.

Walker jumped to second place on lap 11 and tried to keep Bennett in his sites, hoping for a caution to bunch the field. Bennett would provide the yellow as he made contact with Jeff Ford in turn No. 1 as lap 521 began.

Bennett would lose track position to the lead lap cars and come home sixth. Longton and Ken Olson could not reel Walker in during the final ten laps.

Cagle moved from his eighth starting position to the lead by lap 15 and never looked back as Jack Anderson and Terry Cook waged a spirited battle for second place. Anderson would hold down the runner-up spot at the checkers. Ashley Beaman and Andy Beaman rounded out the top-5.

Kulhman would take the lead in the Super Stock main event by lap 3 and held off Shawn Mathews late to claim the victory. Erick Hargraves was third with Ted Wilburn and Jack Mondor rounding out the top-5.
