PHOENIX, Arizona -- Adair Motorsports is preparing for the NASCAR Winston West race at Madera CA, Saturday May 31st. Driver Mark Reed’s comment is very straightforward; "We are looking forward to a great result in the Madera race."
That optimism seems well founded. The Pontiac Grand Prix #3, sponsored by Royal Bath and Body Products, is sporting a new paint scheme this year. The car features and a slick new "blue bubble" look in keeping with the sponsor's product lines. "That new paint scheme is the outward sign of many changes for this years program, " says Christina Adair, the team owner.
The team’s "new" for 2003 list is long and in depth. A new motor program, more testing, a new more efficient car hauler, new race shop, additions to the crew and veteran Crew Chief Tim McMillin joining the effort. Most of these changes weren’t completed until just 3 weeks before the second race, Las Vegas, of the 2003 season. Adair Motorsports and the motor program are headquartered in Phoenix AZ while the race shop, equipment and driver are based in Bakersfield CA.
Driver Mark Reed started with the team in the latter part of last years season and missed the first race of the 2003 season due to a scheduling problem. Reed has had a third place finish at Las Vegas Motorspeedway and an sixth place finish in the Pontiac Grand Prix 200 race at the Fontana California Speedway. This places the team in 3rd place in owner’s points and the driver in 15th place, even with missing the first race of 2003 season. The team’s record is the one of the highest average finishes of the NASCAR Winston West teams for this year.
Short track racing is exciting for the fans and the teams alike, I’m really looking forward to the Madera race, the Madera Speedway is one of my favorites," adds Driver Mark Reed.![]()
