LAS VEGAS – NASCAR Winston Cup star Ken Schrader heads a list of 30 drivers who have filed entries for Saturday’s Orleans 150 NASCAR Winston West event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Schrader, who finished 16th in the CarsDirect.com 400 NASCAR Winston Cup event at LVMS in March, will be making his second start of the year at LVMS.
"I love Las Vegas, and I love the race track at Las Vegas," Schrader said. "We put this deal together with Federated Auto Parts, and this was one we circled that we had to go to."
Among the favorites to challenge Schrader are NASCAR Winston West Series points leader and Las Vegas resident Brendan Gaughan.
"We sat on the pole here in September, and we really want to win with this being our home track," said Gaughan, who posted his first career Winston West victory last month at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. "We have some momentum right now, and we need to keep building on it."
Kevin Richards, who won the Gold Coast 150 NASCAR Winston West event at LVMS in September, former NFL football coach and FOX Sports football analyst Jerry Glanville, and Eric Norris, the son of actor Chuck Norris, also will be among the group chasing Schrader.
Saturday’s Orleans 150 will cap off an "All Star" triple-header at LVMS. The day begins with the Vegas Indy 300 Indy Racing Northern Light Series event at 12:30 p.m. The hit group Smash Mouth will then take center stage in the speedway’s tri-oval area, and the Orleans 150 will close the day.
