ZARETZKE WINS NUMBER FIVEEVERGREEN SPEEDWAY
Source: Evergreen Speedway
The 50 lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series Super Stock feature had race fans on the edge of their seats. Points leader john Zaretzke of Monroe took this weeks win after a fierce battle with defending track champion Tom Moriarity. "We worked on the car all week long,"Zaretzke said. "But it was kind of hard to tell this afternoon because it was so hot on the track. Its always a guessing game. There are no set parameters to make a car run fast." Zaretzke kept everyone guessing till the end. A yellow flag situation in Lap 4 let Zaretzke creep up until he was side by side with early leader Doug Davidson and pulling away from the pack by Lap 14. But Zaretzke passed Davidson within the next two laps. Tom Moriarity was biding his time, moving gradually until he was breathing down Zaretzkes neck in Lap 20 and pushed inside for the lead by Lap 33. Zaretzke fought fiercely with Moriarity and finally pushed inside in turn two with a little contact on a lap 47 restart to re-establish the lead for the win. Doug Davidson, Matt Murphy and Shane Harding finished third through fifth. The 30 lap NASCAR Randys Ring & Pinion Bomber A Main went to Jason Fraser who won his first ever A-Main event. Fraser, who rolled his car during last weeks heats, overtook Naima Lange after staying in Langs rear view from Lap 13. there was little serious competition for Fraser or second place winner Lang. Travis Blackwood, Mark Moulaison and Craig Szweda rounded out the field. The 20 lap Bomber B Main was won by Chad Smith over David Smith and Darrel Lutovsky. Before the 25 lap XTREME F-8 event, Troy Simianer would only say of his car, "Its running well." but the driver, who placed fourth in last weeks 60 Minutes of FEAR, had a full straight away lead for the finish over early leader Merlin Cook. "I learned a lot in 60 Minutes of FEAR,"Simianer added after the race. Some of those skills included dealing with clouds of Track Dry that was billowing up and obscuring vision early on. The XTREME F-8 lived up to its name with lots of contact and short tempers. Merlin Cook survived the feature to take second. The 30 lap Super F-8 A Main was won by Steve Peters. Peters never really lost the lead during the last two-thirds of the race. He negotiated the intersection with ease, justifying his title as current "king of the Intersection." "Every time I see someone coming, I line em up. "Peters explained. Whatever his technique, he had limited contact in a race that saw Doug GrizDelfel underneath another vehicle and Mike Bergstrom T-boned. The 30 lap Mini Stock feature started ugly. Bob Edwardsearly lead was challenged by Ken Jorgensen. Jorgensen bumped Edwards causing some serious contact in turn one of Lap 4. Edwards left by tow truck and Jorgensen earned a black flag. The field stayed fairly stable after that with Michael Johnston, Scott LaCross, and Rick Lipinski up front. Then, in the 29th lap, Lipinski took himself out in a spin and came up with a fire in his wheel well. After a brief red flag to assess Lipinskis car. Johnston took first with LaCross, Dave Ramey, Ken Jorgensen and Lipinski rounding out the field. It was also Auto Bowling night at the Speedway. Steve Peters won this wacky feature for himself and a fan. The unique game has XTREME Contact F-8 drivers backing up and swinging wildly into large plastic barrels like they were bowling pins. Steve Peters had the crowd cheering as he sent the drums spinning across the track not once but several times. The evening officially started with the trophy dashes. The F-8 trophy dash was taken by Doug The GrizDelfel while the XF-8 dash went to Merlin Cook. The Randys Ring & Pinion Bomber Dash went to Jason Fraser Bomber A Main winner. Dash trophies were also held by NASCAR Mini Stock driver Michael Johnston and Super Stock driver Matt Murphy. Next weekend its XTREME CONTACT WORLD CHAMPION for 50 laps along with the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Super Stocks on the 5/8s for twin 35 lap features also on the card will be School Bus F-8, Hornets, 3 Car Trains, The Gauntlet Race and a Roll Over Contest.
