The Northwest Street Stock Tour (NWSST) will race at South Sound for the first time this season on Saturday June 14th. The Foreign Stock Car Racing Association (FSCRA), Hinkle Homes Pure Stocks and Yelm National Auto Parts Bumblebees will also be on hand. The day will be of great celebration as it is Yelm National Auto Parts Night at the Races. It will include giveaways from the store that can be found at 209 Yelm Avenue in Yelm. The NWSST is expected to bring close to 20 cars for Saturday night. They will have two 35 lap main events. President of the club, Mike Crase of Portland will be there along with point leader Grant Baker of Sandy, OR. Last years champion Dustin Wilkinson of Milwaukie, OR is sure to show and defend his track record that he earned last April. You can check out the ladies in this class, Susan Nelson of Portland and CJ Thom of Dundee, OR. Both are fierce competitors. Don’t forget about George Guiberson from Tumwater and Ken Carver from Toledo and Dave Cannon from Vancouver.
The FSCRA always bring a crowd and are exciting. They are known as Mini Super Stocks. President Jerry Koepping of North Bend will bring his group. Rookies include Craig Derksen from Langley, BC, Ron Stocker from Fircrest and Jason Shipman of Puyallup. Kirk Hall of Washougal holds the track record.
Point leader Josh Zahn, of Rochester, in the Hinkle Homes Pure Stocks has his game face on and is looking for another win. Second in points is Brandon Tompkins of Olympia. Justin Floreck of Rochester is in third and Dave Crawford of Chehalis sits in fourth. Three points separate Mark Rorvik and Charlie Manier, both of Olympia, for fifth and sixth.
Former Yelm National Auto Parts Bumblebee Champion Brian Wilson of Rochester is leading so far this year. Ken Meyer of Yelm is in second with James Wyrick of Rochester in third. Word has it that Derek Vetter of Raymond will be back out this weekend along with newcomer Shannon Fitting of Rochester. Janice Blocker of Graham is looking to run her car into the ground so she can get a new one.
