MADERA, California -- Shauna Hogg of Roseville, Calif. finally found victory lane in the USAC Western Sprint Car Series Thursday night, beating a star-studded field of drivers to win the 40-lap feature at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway.

The 2000 "Most Improved Driver" in the Western Series joins Kaylene Verville of Phoenix, Ariz. as the only female winners of USAC Sprint Car races in the club's 48-year history! Verville won a New Mexico/Arizona Sprint Car race at Show Low, Ariz. last year.

Hogg passed Jimmy Waters on the 31st lap and never looked back in her All Phase Security Eagle/Chevy as she beat Jason McCord, Brian McClish, Chad Nichols and Waters to the checkered flag.

NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Tony Stewart competed but was seventh at the checkered flag and series point leader Michael Lewis and fast qualifier Tony Hunt were involved in a lap-six tangle with defending series champion Rick Hendrix and runner-up Scott Hansen.

Anthony Simone led the first 10 laps, Waters led the next 20 and Hogg led the last 10.

Lewis emerged from the race with a 14-point lead over Brian McClish in the new series standings going into the July 3-4 "Rocky Mountain Classic" at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colo.####
