MONROE, Washington -- Adair Motorsports, Evergreen Speedway and Snohomish County Battered Women's Center combined efforts to bring 45 clients from the Snohomish County Battered Women's Shelter and their transitional housing program to an evening of NASCAR Winston West racing on Saturday night, June 28th at the racetrack at the fairgrounds.
The combined efforts of Christina Adair of Adair Motorsports, Vicci Hilty from the Snohomish County Battered Women's Center and Terry Buell, PR Director of Evergreen Speedway brought women and children from the shelter to an evening of high energy excitement as the local and national race cars ran at the speedway in Monroe Washington.
"We try to find a group at every racing event we attend. We are very focused about adding access to children who may not have the means to attend these NASCAR events. Evergreen Speedway was a great help in reducing the cost and even providing free tickets for some of the seats we needed." said Christina Adair.
The children all received gift certificates as well as being invited to tour the pits, meet the drivers and sit in the Adair Motorsports Royal Bath & Body Products Pontiac Grand Prix 3# following the race. Driver Mark Reed, from Bakersfield CA said, "This is one time that winning the race had a downside. We collected the mothers and children following the race to tour the pits, but since I had won the race NASCAR had to impound the car following the race for a post race inspection. This is completely normal, but kept the car away from the children."
The driver, owner and team rushed through the post race interviews and ceremonies to make sure the shelter participants could meet and get their souvenir autographed driver cards and have time to soak up the post race fun by visiting the pit area.
This PR release was held until Monday June 30 in the interest of the shelter
participants and at the request of the Snohomish County Battered Women's
Center.![]()
