Davey Hamilton’s SRL Wild West Shootout heads to Stockton99 Speedway this coming Saturday for there second 100 lap feature on the high-baked ¼ mile track. Saturday’s race will mark the half-way point of the 2003 racing season. With that in mind, the SRL Drivers will start to scramble for position on Stockton’s tight ¼ mile.
Jeff Anthony was the first to cross the finish line at Altamont Raceway Park on March 22nd. Stockton hosted the second race of the season on March 30th. Ron Strmiska Jr. from Manteca, California took control of the race with five laps to go, to pick up his first victory of the season. The series then headed back to Altamont on May 31st, where Strmiska picked up his second victory in a row. On June 28th, Madera hosted there first of three events as Rookie Ryan Foster grabbed his first career SRL Wild West Shootout victory.
Ron Strmiska Jr., a two time winner this season sits on top of the point standings as the series heads to Stockton 99 Speedway. Jeff Anthony the 2002 Series Champion holds down the second position, with Tim Stratmeyer third, Joey Zampa fourth, and rookie Tracy Bolin fifth. Bolin led the first 95 laps at Stockton on March 30th.
Chris Wadsworth of Oakley, California maintains the sixth position. Just six points separate positions sixth threw tenth in the series standings. Ryan Foster is three points behind Wadsworth is seventh, Michael Carver eight, and rookies Steven Williams and Mike Doss rounding out the top 10.
Ryan Foster became the first Rookie to win a feature this season. Foster led the final 25 laps at Madera Speedway on June 28th.
Father and Son to compete: Modesto’s Harry Belletto will join son Jeff Belletto, a regular on the series Saturday night.
Practice Friday: Stockton99 Speedway is hosting a practice session Friday July 11th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. $125 Per Car. You may also leave your car hauler in the pits over night.
