Carl Edwards raced away from a three-way battle for second place on a late restart to score his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory in Saturday night's Built Ford Truck 225 at Kentucky Speedway. Edwards, who qualified fifth but went to the rear because of a pre-race engine change, put his Roush Racing Ford on the point on lap 111 when leader Brendan Gaughan suffered engine failure in Turn 4. Edwards, 23, led the rest of the way, scoring a 3.568-second victory over Ted Musgrave, who passed Dennis Setzer for the runnerup spot on the final lap. Edwards is the season's eighth different winner in 11 races and third first-time winner. His victory marked the fourth consecutive season in which a Raybestos Rookie contender has gone to victory lane. The winner's teammate and Bud Pole winner, Jon Wood, took fourth, followed by Jason Leffler. Travis Kvapil finished sixth to open a 41-point championship lead over Musgrave. Edwards, who averaged 122.393 mph, won $77,500. There were 10 lead changes among nine drivers. Seven cautions consumed 29 of the event's 150 laps.
