Madison, Illinois -- Madison, Wisconsin’s Brian Hoppe won the rain delayed NASCAR Elite Division, International Truck and Engine Corporation Midwest Series Gateway 125, Friday night at Gateway International Raceway just outside of St. Louis.

“I just can’t say enough about this Gildan Activewear team and the race car that they gave me tonight,” said Hoppe. “The short practice session was tough, and I was complaining the whole practice about the car, but I think the things we did in that practice helped the car on the long runs that we had in the race.”

West Salem, Wisconsin’s Steve Carlson finished second with Wheaton, Illinois driver Eddie Hoffman third. Greenfield, Minnesota’s Jon Lemke and Eau Claire, Wisconsin’s Paul Menard rounded out the top five.

With his third place run, Hoffman took over the Midwest Series points lead.

The start of the Gateway 125 was delayed over an hour due to day-long rains which cancelled Bud Pole qualifying and nearly all of practice.

The Midwest Series next travels to Pikes Peak International Raceway, July 25-26, for the running of the Wright Group Event Services 150.####
