CAMERON BACK IN THE SEAT FOR IRWINDALE

Rocklin, CA – NASCAR Winston West Series driver, Austin Cameron, will be piloting the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet and defending his win from last year at the Irwindale Speedway in the “King Taco 200”. Cameron and the #16 NAPA team are looking to repeat their strategy from last year and start out front and finish at the front to give NAPA AUTO PARTS a win in the 2003 season.

Cameron, who has been recovering from an aggressive form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, is well on his way to victory over his cancer and has the checkered flag in sight. Recently, Cameron tested at Irwindale and showed he was ready to reenter the championship fight.

“I am thrilled to be back in the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet,” said Austin. “I came to Irwindale to see how I would do especially after this third cycle of chemotherapy; to mainly test my ability. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t getting out there too early and not being able to finish the race. I felt really good in the car. It didn’t take me very long to get back up to speed and we ran really well. I was mainly concerned with my stamina. After the test, I found out I was ready and committed to winning this race. My crew chief, Doug George and the NAPA team have put together another winning car and we intend to be on the podium at the end of the race.”

“I want to thank my sponsor NAPA AUTO PARTS and all the fans for their support. They’ve been the best medicine I could have had. They have really helped me stay focused on my recovery and to attain my goal of driving the NAPA car again. I want to especially thank Bill McAnally and my team at Bill McAnally Racing. This is really a team effort and BMR knows how to get the job done.”

Team owner, Bill McAnally is equally pleased to have his primary driver in the #16 NAPA AUTOPARTS Chevrolet return.

“We’re really excited to come to Irwindale and have Austin back in the seat,” said Bill McAnally. “This has been a strong track for us. Austin and the team are ready to bring home that 5thth consecutive win at Irwindale Speedway for NAPA AUTO PARTS. We’ve always had great support from the NAPA Los Angeles Distribution Center. I want to thank them and all our sponsors.”

Cameron and the NAPA AUTO PARTS team will continue to set records at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California on July 26th. The King Taco 200 event will start at 6 pm can be seen on SPEED Channel on August 18th at 8 pm EST.
