Las Vegas…Fresh from a win at Gateway Raceway in Madison, Ill., Brendan Gaughan and Orleans Racing look to take their fourth victory of the season at the Sears 200, Saturday, July 26 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan.
Competing for the second time on the Brooklyn, Mich. 2-mile oval, Gaughan feels confident about this race. "Our Dodge trucks are running really strong as is evidenced by our performance at every race so far this season," he says. "This was a tough event for us last year, but things are very different now. We have learned an incredible amount over the past season and our entire team is definitely in the championship mode. We will be using our Number 9 Orleans Dodge for this race, the one we took second with at Charlotte and it should definitely fit the bill."
Currently ranked second in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point's battle, Gaughan sits 34 points out of the lead. "Not only would we like to win this one to further close the gap," smiles Gaughan, "but this is the home of the "Big Three" auto manufacturers and we want to bring home another victory for Dodge right in their own backyard. We known that consistency can earn us the championship, but winning definitely gets us closer to our goal that much faster."
One of the top rising young guns in NASCAR today, twenty-eight year old Gaughan is the only driver to win three events so far this season, (Texas, Milwaukee and Madison). In addition to his wins, Gaughan has also earned Podium finishes at Charlotte, Darlington and Bakersfield. Page 2
Michigan is a track that requires both a good aero package and a strong
motor," continues Gaughan. "And, we have both of those. Our engine builder Kevin
Kroyer has been building engines for me since I was 15 and we have won a number
of championships together. Our entire team builds our Dodges to be strong at
the end and that's what you need to be able to take the Checkered this
weekend"![]()
