Bakersfield, CA- The Mechanix Wear Speed Truck Challenge Series made their second appearance of the season at Mesa Marin Raceway Saturday night. The Washington Mutual fifty lap main event saw Andrew Lewis of Corona take the checkered flag. Lee Hatch went home in second place and Robert Kroeker took third place.
For the fifth time this year the West Coast Pro Truck Series was back in action as well. Tony Forfa received his first win of the season crossing the finish line in front of second place driver Chris Johnson. Third place went to points leader Aaron Stuadinger.
The Cal Spas SuperMoto USA Series returned after a small break but that didn’t detour Argentina’s Leo Bagnis from taking a first place finish again this year. Bagnis beat second place winner Casey Yarrow to the finish line by just a few bike lengths. Josh Chisum crossed the finish line in third place with Rick Pearce in fourth and Jeff Harrington in fith place.
The always exciting Auto Club 911 Race for Youth Series did not disappoint once again as the Kern County Fire Department won their first race of the season with driver Mitch Bonner. The win gave the Fire Department their ninth top five of the year. Chad Cornelson gave the Kern County Parks and Recreation Department a solid night with his second place finish in the #7 car. This was their eleventh top five of the year. Rounding out the top three was the Bakersfield Fire Department #1 car driven by Rik McCorkle. The points race had a little shake up with the Parks and Recreation Department taking over first, Bakersfield City Fire in second and Bakersfield Police Department in third place.
The ChevronTexaco High School Racing Series made their sixth appearance of the season. North High School had jumped out into the early points lead with two wins but tonight’s action saw Tehachapi High School’s Justin Eilers pull out the first win of the season for the Warriors. Eilers was follwed by Delano High’s Joanna Ramirez who crossed the finish line in second place. Alan Wiskirchen driving the #08 of North High extended their points lead with a third place finish tonight.
