(Wheelersburg, OH) R.J. Conley picked up his second win of the season and his second win in a row at Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH this past Saturday night. He arrived late to the track after his son’s baseball game earlier that afternoon, but was able to qualify and run his heat race. R.J. started his Conley Trucking #71c Rocket / Draime Grand Prix from the outside of row number three and had the lead on the second lap. R.J. would keep control of the race and of his racecar on the ultra-rough track to take home the $2,000 victory. R.J.’s father, Delmas, would get up to as high as the fourth place position, but settled for a sixth place finish after losing a few battles with the ruts. Rod Conley was also bitten by the rough track on Saturday night, as he had a left rear flat early in the event, which sent him pit side and relegated him to a 20th place effort.
“Hot Rod” was also in action on Friday night at the $10,000 to win Renegade DirtCar Series event at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD. He failed to make the show through his heat race and the consolation event, but used a provisional to make the big show. The #71r rolled off 24th on the grid and ended up in the 17th finishing spot. Rod is still in fifth place in the Renegade DirtCar Series point standings going into August.
This weekend will be a big one for the Conley Motorsports, Inc. team, as many top regional stars will invade their home track on Saturday night.
