Carson City, Nevada USA -- Coors Light will present the Les Schwab Supermodified Racing League at the Champion Motor Speedway this Saturday night.
Salt Lake City's Lonnie Adamson sits firmly atop the point standings. The defending series champion has accumulated 509 points while winning two events and consistently racking up top five finishes.
Three time race winner Bob Bigiogni from Salinas, California is 79 points back after picking up his third win of the season in the latest round of competition at Magic Valley Speedway in Idaho.
Veteran Jim Tartaglia of Reedley, California is only 26 points behind Bigiogni. Twenty-one year old rookie competitor A.J. Russell of Clovis, California, and Madera Speedway winner Jim Birges of Fresno round out the top five in points.
Other top point earners include Eric Silsby of Carson City, seventeen-year-old rookie Bobby Dalton from San Martin, California, Darren Rusconi of Fresno, Dale Lamborn of Carson City, and three time Supermodified Champion Troy Regier of Dinuba, California.
Others expected to compete include Jeff Russell, Ken Hamilton, and Mike Ford from Idaho, as well as Californians Rob Carlotto and Rick Cameron. Mike Baisch of West Valley City, Utah and several others are also expected to challenge Champion's asphalt oval.
The exotic winged supermodifieds are the fastest cars that compete at the high-banked Carson City oval. The racecars have both the chassis and driveline offset to the left to enhance cornering speeds on the 1/3-mile oval.
With large top mounted wings plus smaller nose wings providing down force, the cars are virtually glued to the asphalt surface at speeds above 100 MPH.
Motive power is supplied by aluminum fuel injected race engines generating as much as 800 horsepower each. Saturday evening's program will feature time trials, heat races, and an action packed forty-lap main event.
So arrive early and catch the fastest cars and drivers to compete on short tracks challenging the clocks before they go head to head in competition.
Also featured at Champion Motor Speedway will be the SRL's two seat Supermodified. This stretched racer features the same offset and wings as most Supermodifieds and is powered by an injected Big Block Chevrolet.
Rides are available to fans that wish to experience the rush of high-speed laps around the racetrack.
The SRL Experience can be booked through the Supermodified Racing League website at www.supermodifiedracing.com. Rides of five, ten, or fifteen laps can be booked. An experienced SuperModified pilot will chauffeur rides in "The Limo" as SRL founder Davey Hamilton calls it.
The Chauffeurs of the Limo this year have included Davey Hamilton, Tony Stewart, Ken Hamilton, Lonnie Adamson, and Jason Fensler.
So head out to Champion Motor Speedway for the fastest show of the year in the Silver State Capitol.
Enjoy the thrill of exotic open wheel sidewinders pushing one hundred mile per hour speeds on the 1/3 mile banked oval.
Better yet, book a ride in "the Limo" and experience those speeds yourself.
This special evening of fire and fury will also feature the Limited LateModels, Les Schwab Street Stocks, Legends, Bandoleros, and those always Hustlin' Hornets.
The "FastFour TrophyDash" series will be in action, along with the Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving kids bicycle races at 6:45pm.
Fun Jumpers' Earnhardt Memorial Park will have bounce houses, face painting, and other activities for the Kids Klub members.
