Wilton Calif. (July 30th)-- Five races down, five races to go. Davey Hamilton’s SRL Wild West Shootout as reached the half-way point of the 2003 racing season. The ten race series will make there third of four stops on Altamont’s big half-mile this coming Saturday August, 2nd.
Ron Strmiska Jr. from Manteca, California is your current point’s leader. Strmiska has three wins to his credit, and he is looking for win number four as the series heads to Altamont. Strmiska has one win at Altamont this season, and two at Stockton99 Speedway.
Jeff Anthony, the 2002 SRL Series Champion sits in the second position overall. Anthony is no stranger to victory lane at Altamont Raceway Park. He won the season opener on March 22nd. Anthony also won three out of four races at Altamont in the 2002 season.
Joey Zampa is just two points out of second place (182-180). The Napa, California driver’s best finish this year came at Altamont on March 22nd. Zampa also finished third on July 12th at Stockton99 Speedway.
Ryan Foster has been the man on the move lately. Foster won at Madera on June 28th, and also finished second at Stockton on July 12th. Ryan is also the current Hoosier Tire West Rookie of the year point’s leader.
Tracy Bolin of Valley Springs, California holds down the fifth position. Bolin trails fellow rookie Ryan Foster by just seven points. Tracy’s best finish this year was fourth at Madera Speedway.
Tim Stratmeyer is just two points out of the top five. The 2001 SRL Rookie of the year had his best finish at Altamont on March 22nd. The Martinez, California driver and Police Sergeant is ready to move back into the top five.
Mike Doss had his best finish of 2003 at Madera on June 28th. Mike currently sits in the seventh position. Mike is one of three rookies in the top ten in points.
Chris Wadsworth from Oakley, California is in eight position overall. Wadsworth ran a strong fourth at Altamont in March. The #10 car had a different look at Stockton on July 12th. Wadsworth car is now painted purple and yellow.
Michael Carver from Diamond Springs, California is in ninth position overall. Carver’s best finish of 2003 came at Stockton on March 30th.
David Philpott of Tracy, California has moved into the top ten. Philpott’s best finish of the year came at Altamont on May 31st at Altamont.
Palo Alto’s Rusty Buholz and Redding’s Kristi Schmitt will both attempt to qualify for the 100 lap feature.
