
Performance Motorsports is proud to announce a new addition to it's team. Tim Mcmillin joins Performance Motorsports as the points battle heats up. "I'm thrilled to be able to work with Tim and I'm sure that he will bring a wealth of knowledge and fresh ideas to our team" said Steve Portenga, driver of the # 77 King Taco, Smart & Final, Rudolph Foods Ford Taurus. Tim will serve the team as Team Manager. His duties will include car set-up, logistics and organization. Tim Morales will assume the duties of Team General Manager.
Tim has been the owner of Mcmillin Racing Products since 1985. The company manufactures race related equipment and the shop works on all areas of race car programs. Tim has been racing since age 12 in go-karts and has driven dirt cars, late models, Grand American and Winston West Cars. He has also worked for various Winston West & Cup crews in all capacities. He also has strong organizational skills having worked for Motorola as a manager in charge of over 325 employees.
"I'm excited to join this championship caliber team" said Tim. "I've had numerous conversations with the owners, Crew Chief Larry Nava and Steve Portenga. They are committed to winning this championship and I believe that it will be a good fit." Smart & Final joins King Taco Restaurants, Mission Foods, Rudolph Foods, Superior Gear, Teamsignco, Stoughton Printing, Auto Marine and Conti in sponsoring Steve as he tries to extend his lead in the NASCAR Winston West point battle. The next race is at Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, California on Saturday August 16, 2003.
