** NASCAR Busch North Series: Kelly Moore won his 25th career victory when he took the Budweiser 150 at Seekonk Speedway. Earlier in the day Moore won the Bud Pole Award, the 47th of his amazing career.
The winner averaged 57.878 mph during the 150-lap chase around the 1/3-mile oval. His qualifying run averaged 91.617 mph.
Mike Stefanik finished second, .55 of a second behind Moore. Dave Dion, Brian Hoar and rookie Ryan Moore filled out the top five. Ryan Moore is the winner’s son.
** National Hot Rod Association: Goodyear-equipped teams won six final rounds in the Fram-Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. That brings Goodyear’s seasonal total to an industry-best 84 final round wins in national events.
Goodyear’s victories came in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Top Alcohol Dragster, Competition Eliminator and Super Gas. There were a total of 12 teams using Goodyear tires that reached the final round of competition at Infineon.
Gary Anderson’s win in Competition Eliminator was the eighth this season for Goodyear-shod cars in that class.
Alan Bradshaw’s win in Top Alcohol Dragster was the sixth this season for a Goodyear team in that class.
Ray Connolly won in Super Gas, giving Goodyear three wins in that class. Connolly’s win was his second in national competition. His first win came in Super Comp.
Larry Dixon’s Top Fuel win was his third straight and gave him a sweep of the three races in the NHRA’s western swing. All told, Dixon has won eight times this year and leads the Top Fuel standings.
Gary Scelzi won the Funny Car final, his first victory in that class. However, Scelzi became the first driver ever to win a final round in the NHRA national competition in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car. Jeg Coughlin Jr., won the Pro Stock final, his first of the season.
** American Le Mans Series: Goodyear-equipped cars won two classes in Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres on the 1.521-mile course in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada.
Oliver Gavin and Kelly Collins teamed to drive their Chevrolet Corvette to victory in the GTS class and fourth place overall. Their team car, a Corvette driven by Ron Fellows and Johnny O’Connell, took second place in class and fifth place overall.
The results left Corvette Racing undefeated in ALMS GTS class competition this season. Both Corvettes have two class wins this season.
Jon Field and Duncan Dayton co-drove a borrowed Lola to victory in the LMP 675 class. The car Field and Dayton normally drive was damaged in a racing crash a week earlier and the team borrowed another Lola from Hugh Chamberlain.
Field and Dayton started last in the 32-car field and finished 10th overall.
** Sprints On Dirt: The race at Ionia Raceway Park was rained out before the main event could be run. It will not be rescheduled.
However, before the rain stopped the action, Dustin Daggett won the Goodyear Racing Tire Heat race. He averaged 116.204 mph for the eight laps around the ½-mile clay oval.
Daggett leads the driver standings with 2,920 points. Dain Naida is second with 2,810.
** USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series: Mart Nesbitt led the final 47 laps and won the Lucas Oil 250 at Big Daddy’s South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Virg.
Michael Ritch finished second, 2.255 seconds behind the winner. Joel Kauffman finished third, Brian Ross took fourth and Jay Fogleman was fifth.
Kertus Davis won the Advance Auto Parts Pole Award.![]()
