CHAD CHAFFIN NABS POLE AT NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY

Hometown driver Chad Chaffin, still looking for his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory, will start tonight's Federated Auto Parts 200 from the Bud Pole. Chaffin, who previously sat on the pole at Kansas Speedway, lapped the 1.333-mile concrete-banked Nashville Superspeedway at a non-record speed of 156.844 mph. Brendan Gaughan, who'd held the No. 1 spot for much of the qualifying session, was bumped to the outside front row starting spot. Gaughan's Orleans Hotel Dodge qualified at 156.670 - just .034-second slower than Chaffin, who lives in nearby Smyrna, Tenn. Dodges swept the top five qualifying positions for the 150-lap, 200-mile race. The Bud Pole sitter's teammate and owner, Bobby Hamilton, will start third at 156.563. Ultra Motorsports teammates Ted Musgrave and Jason Leffler completed the top five. There are no previous Nashville winners in the field - although Leffler's Team ASE Racing/Carquest Dodge captured the track's inaugural event with now NASCAR Busch Series championship leader Scott Riggs in 2001. Current NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader Travis Kvapil will start 10th in his IWX Motor Freight Chevrolet. Mike Bliss drove that truck to victory in last year's Federated Auto Parts 200.
