BLOOMINGTON, California -- The NASCAR Winston West NAPA Auto Parts/Dodge Country 200 willbe contested on the Stockton 99 Speedway’s 1/4 mile asphalt, bankedoval, Saturday night, August 16th. There will be two 100-lap segmentssfor the Winston West touring regulars, separated by a 15-minute break.
Gene Woods is looking forward to Stockton this year. Stockton Dodgeowner Bob Byington has invited the team to show the #7 Auto TraderMagazines/CNWB.com Dodge Intrepid at his Stockton Dodge dealership,Sunday, following Saturday nights’ race. This is a return engagementas Gene’s team was similarly featured last year at the dealership,although last year the team displayed the car before the race.
“I hope there’s a racecar left to show after 200 laps around theStockton 99 quarter-mile. We got beat-up pretty good at Irwindale;we’ve spent the last two weeks putting the car back together. Lastyear we finished sixth at Stockton and it was our third time out inWinston West, so we’re looking forward to going back. The thing atStockton Dodge on Sunday will be fun. It was nice of Bob to invite usback. I hope all the fans come by, meet us and get a poster.” Genesaid.
Last year the team also left Irwindale with a battered racecar, priorto the Stockton event. Crew Chief Mike Fisk once again got to hone hisbodywork skills, readying the car for Stockton. Both sides of the carrequired new sheet metal.
Still tenth in the Winston West Championship and second in rookiepoints, Woods is looking for a good run in Stockton. The team is goingup early to participate in Friday night practice at Stockton 99. “Iwant to get the best set-up I can. We have some talented new blood onthe team and I’m looking forward to setting up the car. I want a goodfinish Saturday night and a complete racecar to show the fans onSunday,” declared Gene.
