ROCKLIN, California -- Running in 7th place in the NASCAR Grand National Division Winston West Series, Jim Inglebright, driver of the #20 Jelly Belly Chevrolet and the Bill McAnally Racing team head off to the Stockton 99 Speedway for the NAPA Auto Parts 200. This weekend's event is the second race in the series held at the speedway since 1984.
"The team and I are looking forward to this race at Stockton," said Inglebright. "I do love the short track! I've had the opportunity in the past to race at the Stockton 99 Speedway in a couple of Late Model events and did really well. I am really happy with the #20 Jelly Belly Chevrolet. We recently tested at the track and turned some laps that based on last year's qualifying, would have put the car on the pole. My crew chief, Mario Isola, and the team have been working hard and I think all their efforts will show on Saturday. We're taking the #20 Jelly Belly car straight to the front and keep her there and give our sponsor Jelly Belly another win in this 2003 season."
"It's great to race so close to home," said team owner, Bill McAnally. "Our families and friends come out to cheer us on and it means a lot to us to have them with us. Our great sponsor, Jelly Belly will be here and we want to thank them for their continued support."
"Jim has been really good on short tracks," continued McAnally. "He won the race at the Las Vegas Bullring and did well at Madera. We are currently 93 points out of first place. We know we have our work cut out for us but we also know that we have what it takes to give Jelly Belly a NASCAR Grand National Division Winston West Championship. Look for the #20 JELY BELLY Chevrolet to be running out front. With the support of our sponsor, Jelly Belly, and our fans, we can do it."
The Stockton 99 Speedway was once described as the `Bristol of the West'. It is a ¼ mile track that has a reputation for being a tough track. The #20 Jelly Belly team is ready for the challenge. The race will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2003. The NASCAR Winston West teams will qualify at 4:30 with the race scheduled to begin at 8 pm. The race will air on SPEED Channel on August 30th.
