PORTENGA LOVES SHORT TRACKIN'

Steve Portenga is looking forward to rubbing, fenders and doors, that is, with his fellow competitors as they head to Stockton 99 Speedway in Stockton, California. "I cut my teeth racing on this type of short track and I'm anxious to run up there" said Steve. "We tested on a quarter mile short track close to home and I'm pretty happy with the way things went in the test. The addition of Tim McMillin is sure to help us." Steve has finished every race this season in the top ten. "I am looking to finish in the top three" continued Steve, " And with a finish like that I can hopefully gain some ground."

Smart and Final joins King Taco Restaurants, Teamsignco, Superior Gear, Mission Foods, Rudolph Foods and Stoughton Printing this weekend in sponsoring the # 77 Performance Motorsports Ford Taurus.

Steve leads the NASCAR Winston West points battle by a mere 1 point. The Winston West Series has followed the lead of the Busch and Craftsman's series this year as they all have tight points battles also going on.####
