MORIARITY STEALS POINTS LEAD & 5TH CONSECUTIVE WINEVERGREEN SPEEDWAY
Source: ES Media Relations
The NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series Super Stocks battle started with fast qualifier Moriarity pushed back in an eight car invert. Zaretzke was at his side. It didn’t last for long. Moriarity began a slow but steady advance with an energetic Shane Harding at his side. Zaretzke also moved forward but with less power. Joe Constance was on the pole and held the lead for much of the race. Moriarity passed him on Lap 33. Zaretzke pushed up to fourth behind Harding and Constance. Despite a valiant effort he was unable to pass Harding. The final results were Moriarity winning with Constance, Harding, Zaretzke and Kelly Mann rounding out the field. Other checkered flag winners for the evening included NASCAR Mini Stocks driver Dave Ramey of Everett and Randy’s Ring & Pinion Bomber driver Jim Risher of Everett. The FEAR Xtreme Contact feature was won by Steve Peters of Kirkland. There were two Hertz Hornets features. The first Hornet race was taken by Joe Belinc of Marysville and the second by Keith Hager of Snohomish. There were also two dashes featuring students of the Competitive Edge Racing School. The 20-lap Mini Stock feature started with a melee on turn three that took four cars out of the race. Dave Ramey quickly moved forward for the lead. Scott LaCross moved up to challenge Ramey in Lap 15 with Michael Johnston close behind. They maintained that order for the win. The Randy’s Ring & Pinion Bombers had an opening B Main race. John Burtsche and Darrel Lutovsky were first and second respectively. The drivers opted to trade their wins for a slot in the A Main race. This left the default win to Darin Stordahl of Marysville. The A Main race was an uncontested show between Jim Risher in first and Ron Landry in second. They held on to those spots for the checkered flag. Bill Mann took third. The FEAR Xtreme Contact F8 was exciting. Perry Huffman had crowds gasping with his precision work at the intersection but once again all eyes were on Steve “Battlewagon” Peters. Peters and Ben Raynes fought fiercely for the win. After a lot of bumping, Peters took the checkered flag with Raynes close behind. The Hertz Hornets swarmed from the pits for two feature races. The first 15-lap race was carnage with over 30 yellow and black 4-cylinder cars on the track. Ken Higby of Bellingham rolled over in Lap 7 but managed to crawl out under his own steam. Bumped fenders and flying bumpers made an obstacle course that Joe Belinc negotiated for the win. The second feature was decidedly more sedate with only 23 cars competing. It was won by Keith Hager. Saturday also featured several dash races by class. The Super Stocks dash went to Matt Murphy. The Mini Stock dash was won by Jaime Richardson. Naima Lang took the checkered flag for the Bombers class. Steve Peters was the winner of the Xtreme Contact F8 dash. The Hornets dash winner was Tony McAuliffe of Snohomish. It was also Everett Herald Night at Evergreen Speedway. The sponsors celebrated with an employee grudge match. It was a smooth race, well driven by the six participants. Ana Dosskey won with Steve Hawes second and Mary Lowry third.
