CARSON CITY, Nevada -- Hot August Nites at the Champion Motor Speedway provided some red-hot racing action as Ceramic Tile Center presented Stetson-Beemer Insurance Nite featuring the Les Schwab Screamin SCoolBus.
In the Charter Super LateModel main, it was Chet Danburg earning the Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving main event trophy in front of the hard charging Randy Hedrick, with Henry Hodges Jr. rounded out the top three positions. Hodges also took the FastFour TrophyDash trophy, as Hedrick took the heat race win.
Twenty-one Legends were on hand to thrill the fans in the stands and as per usual, they did not disappoint. The Legends have consistently been the strongest division to compete at the Champion Motor Speedway in 2003.
After the dust settled on the Legend main event, a very familiar name was once again standing in the Longs Jewelers winners circle.
John Burritt showed everyone why he is the odds-on favorite every time he pulls onto the track. On this night it was Meka Palmer in second, followed by Jim Klopp in third. Burritt also snagged the FastFour TrophyDash trophy; as Greg Garcia took the heat #1 win, with Klopp taking the heat #2 win.
It was Big Al Goss grabbing the gold in the Limited LateModel feature, with Dave Lester and Ed Goss in tow. Lester earned the FastFour TrophyDash win, as A. Goss was also victorious in the heat race.
Kris Keller took a popular win in the Les Schwab Street Stock feature, as John White and Glenn Davidson had to settle for second and third respectfully. White earned the FastFour TrophyDash hardware, as Kris Betz took the heat race win.
The ultra-crazed Hustlin Hornets also put on a great show as 15 year old newcomer Andrew Marshall out paced Cory Hauck and Jason Coleman to take the main event win. Rebecca Parmelee took the honors in the FastFour TrophyDash; while Hauck took the heat race win.
After the event, several of the Hustlin Hornets racers graciously agreed to let CMS use their racecars for the FasterPastor Charity Challenge on September 6.
Complete August 16 race results and points standings will be available on or before Wednesday, August 20 at www.ChampionMotorSpeedway.com
During intermission, Jamin Joe Wheeler gave thrill rides to members of the CMS Kids Klub around the high-banked 1/3-mile asphalt oval (in both directions) and through the figure 8 course in the legendary Les Schwab Screamin SCoolBus.
This special promotion has become very popular with the kids and it took three full busloads to quench their insatiable thirst for Saturday nite speed.
Kids be sure to mark your calendars, because the final Les Schwab Screamin SCoolBus RideNite of 2003 season will be on September 13.
