
IRWINDALE, California -- Nascar “Elite Division” Featherlite Southwest Series returns to Irwindale Speedway for the final visit in the 2004 regular season. The "Advantage Ford 150” sets the stage for multiple goals, a tune up for the Toyota shoot out in November, and another chance at the Irwindale Speedway checkers.
Saturday night, Desert Thunder MotorSports (DTM) will unload the Napa Auto Parts / Yerf Dog Fun Kart Chevy for battle! In addition to their racing programs DTM continues with their Yerf Dog Fun Kart Fan Appreciation program where a lucky race fan will take home a new Go-Cart built by the number one manufacturer in the industry. In addition, DTM & Nation’s Missing Children Organization (NMCO) will be promoting awareness for a missing child in front of thousands of race fans and tape delayed televised presentation on Speed Channel in the weeks to follow.
Fourteen year old, Chase Knudson is described as 5’ 3” tall, weighing 100 pounds with blue eyes and light brown hair. The circumstances behind his disappearance are unknown. On August 7, 2003 Chase was last seen at approximately 10:30 PM at his residence in the vicinity of 11th Ave. & Glendale in Phoenix, AZ. He was watching movies with a friend and the following morning, he was gone.
“This case immediately caught my attention,” said Darrell LaMoure, founder of the Racing for the Missing program and driver of the racecar. “Chase was born on the very same day Shelley and I were married on November 7, a happy day for me.” The fourteen year old was residing with his grandparents at the time of his disappearance leaving them desperate to find their missing grandson. “Grandparent’s are so cool and caring I think you know what I mean,” added Darrell LaMoure. “With strong moral values and the love that is consistent in a grandparent and I am concerned that Chase wouldn’t have just ran off.”
Saturday evening at Irwindale Speedway the DTM race team intends to place the Napa Auto Parts / Yerf Dog Fun Kart up front and capture the attention of both the Speed Channel cameras and the audience.
