Price, Utah -- Brady Swertfeger last raced with the Intermountain Mini sprints over 3 months ago. After several motor failures with the Yamaha V-Max engine, Swertfeger has been installing a new Suzuki GSXR-1000. Everyone was eagerly waiting to see how the new GSXR-1000 with Electronic Fuel Injection performed. After Brady's performance they may have wished they didn't see it. Swertfeger took the lead on Lap 1 and was never seriously challenged, leading green to checker in the August 30th event on a perfect racing evening at Desert Thunder Raceway in Price, Utah. Jared Elwell charged to 2nd from his 8th starting spot and Bob Brewer came to 3rd from his 9th starting spot by the 2nd lap but neither were able to pressure Swertfeger even with a Lap 4 yellow. Season point leader Tim Savage passed Casey Kesler on lap 8 and Brewer on Lap 14 to claim the 3rd spot retaining the points lead by 48 points with 1 race remaining. The track was slightly more abrasive than normal and several competitors suffered from late race handling problems.
Heat Races were won by Bob Brewer and Charley Hanna while Brady Swertfeger won the Trophy Dash. Jack Elwell flipped his car on the final lap of the 2nd heat race destroying his wing and Jacob's ladder but was able to repair the car and return for the feature, racing without a wing.
