Southwest Tour driver Jason Fensler dominated to win the 100 lap Sierra Mountain Super Series Pro Stock race, winning by a full straight away against an evenly matched field at the All American Speedway in Roseville.

Three former Pro Stock champions were in the field making rare appearances at the quarter-mile paved oval: Chuck Glick of Citrus Heights, Jim Courage Jr. of Roseville, and Howard Nevens of North Highlands.

Dan Farrington of Orangevale was the top-qualifier with a 13.37 second lap. The top-ten cars were separated by just two m.p.h in their lap times. Glick, who qualified third fastest, won the dash.

The invert for the race was seven, putting the husband and wife team of Mike Mansch and Shannon Brady-Mansch on the front row.

Mike Mansch led until lap 15 when points leader Byron Gonzales of Carmichael and Glick made contact in lapped traffic causing exterior damage to both cars. As the field came around for the restart Mike Mansch exited with a flat tire allowing Fensler to move into the lead position.

Glick restarted at the back of the field and moved up to fifth by lap 20. On lap 25, the yellow came out forcing Fensler to sacrifice his large lead. Farrington, who started seventh, challenged Fensler briefly on the restart but Fensler quickly pulled away.

Nevens and Melissa Davis tangled on lap 38, ending Daviss day. Dan Cherry of Sacramento was also damaged in the incident forcing Nevens and Cherry to the pits for repairs.

Farrington fell out of the race on lap 66 with transmission problems, moving Glick into the second position.

An intense three car battle for third continued until lap 74, when Courage and Shannon Mansch got tangled sending Manschs car into the infield.

On the restart, Glick and Fensler made contact in turn one. Fensler kept the car under control and drove away with the lead position for good.

The top-five were: Fensler, Glick, Courage, Chet Danburg of Carson City, Nv., and Shannon Mansch.

Danburg captured the Sierra Mountain Super Series championship. In the tight All American Speedway points, Gonzales padded his small lead as he finished 11th with Farrington finishing 12th.

In the Modified class, a special 50 lap race was run. Craig Swim of Elverta fought hard early with Gary Glenn Orangevale to earn the win.

On lap 20, Glenn and Craig Swim came up on the lapped car of Mel Wilson of Rio Linda. Glenn and Wilson made contact, allowing Craig Swim to take the lead for good. Glenn held second for the rest of the race as well.

Gary Swim and Scott Woessner of Roseville dueled for third closely for the entire race. It was all for naught as Gary Swim was disqualified for denying an engine claim.

The top-five were Craig Swim, Glenn, Woessner, Hap Ferree of Nevada City, and Rich Lindgren of Rio Linda. Jimmy McFall of Rio Linda won the dash.

Phil Wilkins of Citrus Heights led every lap of the Bomber main event from the pole position. Fast-time qualifier Steve Masnica of Roseville climbed through the field from his seventh starting spot to finish second. The top-five were: Wilkins, Masnica, John Cummings of Rescue, Jane Harrington of Sacramento, and Jim McCully of Roseville.

Mario Rios-Davis of Citrus Heights won the first heat and Craig Mauzac of Shingle Springs won the other heat.

Richard Poppert Jr. of Sacramento won the Street Stock

main event after taking the lead from Chris Lambert of Loomis on the eighth lap of the 35 lap race. Derrick Doering of Orangevale was in hot pursuit of Poppert for much of the race. Doering was disqualified after the race for illegal engine parts.

The top-five were: Poppert, Christina Davis of Santa Rosa, Lambert, Chris Paulsen of Roseville, and Ronnie Richards of Rio Linda. Bob Johnson of Sacramento won his heat and the dash. Craig Fifer won the other heat.

Points leader Richard Lavallee of Dixon broke an axle in practice and used a back-up car in the main.

A shocking finish in the Mini Stock main event allowed Jason Romero to score his sixth victory of the year. Brandon Cobabe of Granite Bay took the lead from Dale Bulmer of North Highlands on lap 13. Cobabe and Romero battled with Cobabe in the lead entering the final turn.

Mike Willet of Sacramento, a lapped car, was in Cobabes path. The two collided, slowing Cobabe down and sending Willet into the wall. Romero snuck underneath to take the win.

The top-five were: Romero, Cobabe, Bulmber, Earl Lee of Elverta, and Robert Nowack of Sacramento. Cobabe won the first heat and Romero won the second heat. Willet won the dash.####
