CARSON CITY, Nevada -- This Saturday night at the Champion Motor Speedway, its time to put up or shut up. Several season point battles will be decided as the racers prepare to take it to the track to prove who's the boss in 2003. Coors Light will present Charter Media Championship Nite #1 this weekend and bragging rights are on the line.
Once the dust finally settles on the 2003 season, Long's Jewelers Championship Rings worth $1500.00 will be awarded to the Charter Super LateModel, Western Modified, Legend, Limited LateModel, Les Schwab Street Stock, Hustlin Hornets, Queen Beez, and Bandolero champions.
Some of the divisions are extremely close with less than fifty points separating first to third places. The high-banked 1/3-mile asphalt oval will try to contain all the action as racers try to find the fast line to the championship.
The Western Modifieds, one of the divisions with first-to-third compacted at the top of the pack, will be racing to crown a new champion for the inageral series.
#7 Shane Kline of Carson City, NV is at the front of a very competitive field with 403 points, thirty six points behind is #33 Johnny Vega of Newcastle, CA with 367 points and he is being chased by #8 Pat Pearson of Minden, NV only twelve points back with 352.
#6 Mark Tompkins of Carson City, NV sits in fourth place with 265 points and just six points ahead of #55 Duane Kramer of Dayton, NV with 259 points.
The closest division is the Limited LateModels with #3 'Big' Al Goss of Carson City, NV leading the way with 460 points. #9 Joel Worley of Carson City, NV trails Goss by only thirteen points with 443.
Hot on both their heels are #00 Stuart Moon of Carson City, NV with 421 points, twenty-nine points out of first. #8x Chet 'Da Jet' Danburg of Carson City, NV has 370 points in fourth place and in fifth is #44 Randy Reid of Sparks, NV with 270 points.
The Hustlin' Hornet division is locked up by #28 Rebecca Parmelee of Reno, NV with 708 championship points. #16 Tim Maloney of Gardnerville, NV is a distant second with 424 points and five fewer starts than Parmelee.
Separated by one point for third and fourth are #8 Jerry Stark of Carson City, NV with 354 points and #3 Corey Hauck of Dayton, NV with 353 points. #5 Rick Kepley of Carson City, NV rounds out the top five with 304 points.
Fun Jumpers' Earnhardt Memorial Park will feature the Ponderosa Stamp & Engraving bicycle races at 6:30pm, and the bounce house pavilion.
Showing LIVE at all five Thunder Theater locations will be the ASA CITGO/MDA 250 from Illiana Motor Speedway in Schererville, IN.
The pits open @ 3pm, front gates open @ 5pm, and the show starts @ 7PM.
Adults are only $9.00, Seniors (55 and over) and Military (with photo ID) are only $7.00, Teens (18 to 13) are $5.00, Juniors (12 to 6) are $3.00 and Kids (5 & under) are free. Event parking is also free.
