Covina, Calif. (October 18, 2003) — No.91 BHRM Motorsports Speed Truck driver Lee Hatch started off pole and finished second at Irwindale Speedway Saturday night. The battle was fierce as Hatch took the lead on lap one and held off the field for 88 of the 99-lap main event until a late race bump from behind caused him to loose momentum and drop to second.

“We spent Friday night here at Irwindale working on our race set-up,” said Hatch. “I felt pretty confident that we would be good at the end of the 99 laps.”

Hatch put on a great show for the 5,000 fans that attended Fan Appreciation Night at Irwindale Speedway by holding off the No. 10 of Troy Decuir. They both battled it out keeping the fans in amazement the entire race. It wasn’t until the final 10 laps when Hatch finally lost the battle as he was bumped in the rear between turns three and four by another truck that misjudged Hatch’s position.

“I was disappointed that I was hit from behind after leading the entire race,” said Hatch. I worked very hard to stay out front and it’s frustrating that this happened, I was getting a little loose in the turns already and the extra nudge was enough to give the lead to Troy. That’s racing. I understand that at the end everybody wants to go for the win. I’m happy for Troy and that I was able to bring a second place home for my team. It was a great points night for us. I want to thank my Dad who did a great job spotting me and keeping me out front. I was especially happy that my daughter Jennifer was able to be here tonight, that meant so much to me. “

The BHRM Motorsports team sponsored by Wentzell Equipment Rental, HazMat Backhoe, RG Motorsports, RBS Graphics, Faust Printing, Parker Pumper and Liquid Eyewear will head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring on Saturday, October 25th. Hatch is hoping to bring home his sixth win of the season and secure his points lead even further. The season finale will take place at the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe on Sunday, November 16th.
