Source: Terry Thomson
The newest car in the S&S camp is piloted by veteran racer in many classes, but this being his first start in the Winston West, Tim Smith driving the #22 Integrity Financial, Monte Carlo. Smith qualified 17th and finishing in the 16th spot with a good first effort. When asked what he thought of this new venture,˛ Pretty cool. Doesnąt respond like a modified, but pretty cool.˛ It will take the basic set up change and the #22 car is ready for Fontana. Steve Schaefer running the #33 Firstline, Inc., Monte Carlo, had his most challenging day of his three starts thus far. During his qualifying run the font end of his car began to shake and made for a very uncomfortable situation, qualifying in the 27th spot. Once in line, with the watchful eye of NASCAR, it was found that the front left shock was broken. Steve finished 17th for the day. Steve Schaefer won the Powerade Powermover award. S&S Motorsports would like express their appreciation for the support and assistance from Rich Thompson and Rob Dixon of the #61 Thompson Motorsports team.
