LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- Twenty year old and newly crowned 2003 Featherlite Southwest Series Rookie-of-the-Year, JR Patton, has announced that he will be teaming up with Cummins Industrial Tools for the Toyota All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway. Patton and the team are looking forward to the fierce competition and great publicity at a track they have ran well at in the past. With a Bud Pole Award and a third place finish at Irwindale, they have high hopes for a good showing.
This has been a typical rookie season, with many ups and downs, for the team. JR and the team have learned a lot through the struggles to make them better and stronger. Due to a conflict with two cars having the same number, Patton will be driving the #7 Cummins Industrial Tools, Las Cruces Motorsports, and Patrick’s Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo. “We hope the 7 will be lucky for us this weekend,” says Patton. “With such short races, there won’t be any room for error.”
Patton would like to thank everyone who has helped him throughout the year including:
Crew Chiefs Ted Cummins and Scott Brandt, Motivator/Mechanic Tom Baker, Tire Specialist Tim Thurein, Truck Driver/Spotter Russell Anderson, Motor Builder Jeff Koerner, Car Cleaning Specialist Chad Stump, Chef Mike Day, Car Owners Dennis Patton and Dick Patton, and Scorer Melissa Gorham. Thanks also to the fans, friends, and family who have showed us support throughout this season.![]()
