On December 9, 2003, an historic event will occur as part of the December meeting of the Southern California Chapter of the Society of Automotive Engineers (S.A.E.). Dick Guldstrand, better known as "Mr. Corvette" to millions of Chevrolet Corvette fans, will speak on the subject of "Corvette Thunder, 50 Years of Corvette Racing 1953-2003."
This event will be the public unveiling of a new hard cover book of the same name. Written by noted automotive historian Dave Friedman, "Corvette Thunder" is a work critics are calling the most complete anthology of its kind ever published. "Even if Corvettes aren't your favorite, if you love sports car racing, you'll love this book," said AutoWeek in its December 1st issue. Friedman will also be at the S.A.E. meeting.
On display will be Guldstrand's personal 500 horsepower Signature Edition 50th Anniversary Corvette, one of a limited series built by Guldstrand Motor Productions, LLC.
The S.A.E. meeting will be held at Steven's Steak House, 5332 Stevens Place, Commerce, CA beginning at 6 p.m. Seating is limited so call (714) 632-8811 for reservations or click on www.sae.org, the official S.A.E. Website.
