GLENDORA, California -- The NASCAR Grand National Winston West # 77 Performance Motorsports race team had a busy weekend this past Saturday and Sunday spreading holiday cheer throughout Southern California.
On Saturday December 20, the team participated in the King Taco Restaurants Holiday Party that is held in East Los Angeles every year. King Taco Restaurants hands out presents and provides a festive party for over 5,000 youngsters that otherwise might go without. This party is also held in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, who delivers Saint Nick on the biggest hook and ladder in the county. King Taco Restaurants is a family owned company with locations through-out Southern California. Their restaurants can also be found at California Speedway, Los Angeles County Fairplex, Irwindale Speedway and The Long Beach Grand Prix. Their trademark phrase is "Equisitamente...a la Mexicana" As an added attraction the team's Winston West Race car was on display display.
On Sunday the team went to Los Angeles' skid row. The team helped in the annual Fred Jordan Mission Christmas Party. This event has been held in downtown Los Angeles for the past thirty or so years. The Fred Jordan Mission Christmas party atrracts over 25,000 underprivileged kids that are treated to a Christmas Worship & Praise service and then they are loaded down with blankets, toys, food and Christmas trees.
As if that wasn't enough, the team also provides Christmas for over 100 kids in their hometown of Glendora, California. This is also done with the help of the local Kiwanis Club, various church groups and gracious citizens.
Performance Motorsports plans to field two entries in the Grand National West series this next year. J.L. Ramirez who hails from Mexico City will drive the # 17 del Valle Fruit Juice Ford Taurus. Jugos del Valle is the largest fruit juice manufacturer in Mexico.
