PHOENIX, Ariz. - Ken Schrader recovered from a late race scramble to win the United Rentals 150 race at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday.
It marked the second consecutive victory for Schrader in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series season opener at the one-mile track.
Schrader, a regular in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, started 19th in a field of 30 cars and quickly charged to the front. He settled into a comfortable lead just past the midway point, but saw it vanish when the caution flag flew with 100 laps complete. Although he slipped to third while Austin Cameron and Clint Bowyer battled for the top spot, Schrader was able to move back out front for good by lap 116.
Cameron finished second, followed by Matt Kobyluck in third. Fourth was Mike David, followed by Jim Inglebright in fifth.
