MONROE, Washington -- After many months of intense negotiations IPI, operators of Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA, is finally able to publish a tentative schedule.
The energetic schedule compliments the 50th Anniversary Season of the Northwest’s busiest and most fabled race facility. Seventy Seven events are crammed into a twenty nine week season.
Evergreen starts the season early with a 300 lap enduro for the Hornet on Saturday Night March 13. The Big O Tires 125 for NASCAR’s Auto Zone Elite Division Northwest Series will return to open the oval track racing season on the super fast 5/8 mile on Saturday March 27. The annual Doug James Memorial Winged Sprint Cars will be a part of the opener.
The NASCAR Northwest Series will be at the Super Speedway of the Northwest three times in 2004: March 27, May 8 (3/8 mile oval) and June 26.
The 50th Anniversary Speed Weekend is on Friday and Saturday July 16 & 17. Friday will feature NASCAR’s Grand National West Series and the USAC Sprint Cars for practice in addition there will be Open Competition Super Stocks, Bombers on the 5/8-mile oval and Figure Eight racing. Saturday there will appearances by many former Saturday Night Heroes including NASCAR Nextel Cup Stars along with the Coors Light 200 for NASCAR Grand National Division West Series and the USAC Sprint Cars.
Evergreen has always fielded the largest car count in the Northwest for their weekly racing series. The ‘Five Star Nights’ will feature NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Bombers, Super Figure Eights and Extreme Contact Figure Eights. When the Hornets and other special events are added, makes the weekly racing program the strongest ever.
Racing nights of note are the 4th of July Demo Derby, 60-minutes of FEAR (April 17) & Big Track Championships for Evergreens NASCAR Super Stocks and the traveling Late Model Challenge Series on the 5/8 (September 18).
Evergreen Speedway has a multitude of racing surfaces with a 1/5-mile oval and figure eight. For the short track fan there is a banked 3/8-mile oval and the Super Speedway 5/8-mile oval (the largest track in the Northwest). Add a Karting and Hornet road course and you have the one of the busiest race tracks in the country.
