Saturday, March 6, 2004. Steve Schaefer, driver of the #33 Firstline/Integrity Financial, NASCAR Grand National West Series car, had his car on display for some enthusiastic young Cub Scouts at the annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Fair Oaks, CA.
Steve had his hands full signing autographs and fielding questions from inquisitive youngsters as well as parents and scout leaders. ³We hoped to bring a touch the real thing to these boys, and get them excited about the sport,² Steve Schaefer commented to one of the scout leaders.
Dean L. Thomson, District Chairman, of the Pony Express District of the Golden Empire Council, Boy Scouts of America expressed his deep appreciation for Steve Schaefer and his crew taking time out to be with the wide-eyed young Scouts. They thought the car was really ³Cool!".
