Saturday, April 3rd rain or shine, marks the season opener for the Figure Eight Auto Racing (FEAR) Super Figure Eights and the FEAR Extreme Contact Figure Eights at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. Drivers in both classes are preparing for the kickoff to the 20+ races scheduled for 2004.

New car construction rules in the Super Figure Eight class are expected to lead to a new track record and the fastest competitive lap speeds ever seen on the figure eight track. Last year’s champion “Cowboy” John Carlson is set to debut a wild new car he brought back from the Indianapolis Speedrome during the off season. Numerous F8 regulars are putting the final touches on brand new F8 cars to attempt to dethrone Carlson and be the one who sets that new track record.

The Extreme Contact drivers and crews are no less busy prepping their cars for the season of tire smoking, fender crunching mayhem that is Extreme Contact Figure Eight Auto racing.

Rumors around the pits:

This year is slated to mark the return of veteran driver Gary Taylor in an all-new F8 car to teach the younger generation how it’s really done.

NASCAR late model driver John Zaretzke (son of legendary F8 driver Carl Zaretzke), plans on shooting the “X” with the F8 club this year in his new car.

2004 FEAR President Pat Clark and current track record holder Shane “Mr. Attitude” Sawin will be teaming up this year creating double trouble for the rest of the field.

Stellar classes of rookies are all chomping at the bit to vie for their spot in FEAR history.

All things considered, this looks to be one of the most exciting seasons in FEAR history and it kicks off on Saturday, 4/3/04: time trials at 3:30, heat races at 5:00, Trophy dashes and Main events start at 7:00.####
