INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -- Ringers Gloves driver Butch Miller and his Timber Wolf SS Racing Monte Carlo claimed the first round of ASA National Tour action at the SK Hand Tool 200 at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., on Saturday.
Miller started 14th in the field, lead early on in the race and stayed out of trouble for 200 laps.
But on lap 176, Miller took the lead from hometown boy, Travis Kittleson, and never looked back.
This was Miller’s second consecutive opening weekend victory, as well as his 50th career win.
The accomplishment puts Miller at the top of the list for a driver to win 50 races and 50 pole positions in his career.
In addition to Miller, Ringers also had 10 other drivers qualify in the 40-car field.
2003 ASA Rookie of the Year, Reed Sorenson, recorded a fourth place finish in his Target/Havoline Dodge, with 2003 ASA National Champion, Kevin Cywinski, coming home in seventh for Country Joe Racing.
Other drivers in the race included Rick Beebe finishing 10th; Rich Loch, 11th; Toby Porter, 25th; SS Racing’s second entry, John Dalziel, 28th; Todd Kluever, 35th; Mike Garvey, 36th; Peter Cozzolino, 39th; and Scott Lagasse, 40th.
