BAKERSFIELD, California -- Running only a limited season in the ASA Speed Truck Challenge Driver Ron Nava posts his second top five in as many events for the 2004 season. April 10th at Irwindale Speedway after missing the 1st of two practices Nava posted the 3rd quick time and qualified 5th of the 23 truck ASA field. " Right off the trailer the Lawrence Building & Design, Scott's Automotive Speed Truck was fast. We had very little test time and were pleased with the 5th place qualifying effort". Nava starting 5th on the grid maintained his position for the 50 lap main event.
Mesa Marin Speedway April 24th, Nava having never seen this seen this track Qualified 8th. " We had two extended practice sessions probably 20 laps each just trying to become acquainted with this 1/2 mile high banked speedway. It's a great facility. A little rough on the bottom line, shocks are critical." With a gear change and carburetor adjustment Nava was ready for the 50 lap ASA Speed truck main event.
Starting 4th row outside at the green Nava started his way towards the front. The top 7 trucks lined up for a few laps and broke away from the rest of the field.At around lap20 Nava worked his way into the 4th position. At that point the show was on. Nava and the #26 went side by side for 12 laps with what turned out to be the best racing of the night. swapping positions no less than four times Nava tucked in and finished 4th for the night. " We had a fast truck tonight but catching them and passing them are two different things. These ASA Speed Truck guys are tough, They don't just give it up".
Nava after only two outings is currently 15th in points and will be competing in selected events for the 2004 ASA Racing Season.
