BLYTHE, California -- The Season Finale proved to be a nail biter as the Sunoco Fuel PURE STOCKS and Lucas Oil LATE MODELS raced to determine the season championship in their respective divisions. Don Olmsted (79) was 8 points ahead of Jimmy Rouse (09) before the Main Event started. Jimmy Rouse did what he had to do. He finished first in the Main Event. But Olmsted’s fourth-place finish was enough to put him 2 points ahead of Jimmy Rouse in overall season points. In the Main Event, Jimmy Rouse was followed by John Kelley (11), Terry Elmore (22), Don Olmsted (79), and Skeeter Phipps (15).

Before the final Main Event, Ryan Becker (19) was 10 points ahead of Richard Kerr (56) in the Lucas Oil LATE MODEL Division. About midway through the Main Event, Becker spun out, sending him to the rear. At that juncture in the race, Richard Kerr held the lead position in the Main Event and was also ahead of Becker in points. As the checkered flag came down, Richard Kerr crossed the finish line for a first-place finish. However, Becker had moved back up to fourth place, which put him 4 points ahead of Kerr in overall season points.

An awards banquet will be held in the fall, at which time the season Champions will receive their trophies, jackets, money, and other prizes. Details about the awards banquet will be made available later in the summer.

The staff at the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway would like to thank all of the drivers, racing teams, and fans who supported the 2003-2004 Winter Blast stock car season. We are looking forward to an even more successful 2004-2005 winter stock car series at the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway.
