MOORESVILLE, NC -- Ware Racing Enterprises and Powell Motorsports USA announced Tuesday that Snohomish WA native and NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Northwest Series driver Travis Powell will drive the #51 Ware Racing enterprises Chevy in the Busch Series Goulds Pumps ITT Industries 200, Nazareth Speedway, Nazareth PA Sunday May 23, 2004.
Powell, who has raced at tracks all over the Northwest, has been approved by NASCAR to drive in the Busch Series on tracks of a mile or less, but his goal is to run on the bigger tracks once he is approved for his Super Speedway license. Powell is a dedicated and loyal individual who is passionate about his racing, his family and his career at Washington Mutual Bank in Seattle. In a recent interview Travis stated he is ecstatic at the prospect of running in the Busch series and is grateful to Rick Ware for this opportunity.
Accompanying Powell in this endeavor is Crew Chief, Bill Shaw also of Snohomish WA. Shaw has many years of racing experience including becoming a crew chief in the Craftsman Truck, Busch, and Winston Cup Series for NASCAR Driver Morgan Shepherd. Select members of the Powell Motorsports USA crew will be attending several of the upcoming races as part of the over-the-wall crew.
