ADAMSON ATOP SUPERMODIFIED POINTS

The Supermodified Division of the SRL has an interesting enigma in its 2004 points race. With one race in the books, the Defending Champion, Lonnie Adamson of Salt Lake City is atop the standings with 69 points. However, Adamson scored his points as a substitute driver in the Hamilton Racing Hyder Hawk. Ken Hamilton is scheduled to drive the number one car for most of the Supermodified Racing League Events this year. In addition, The runner-up to Adamson's 2003 championship, Bob Bigiogni is also without a ride this year. It appears that the championship will be wide open.

Jeff Russell of Boise, Idaho and Eric Silsby of Carson City, Nevada are tied for second place with 65 points after the Cajon Speedway Opener. In fourth place is veteran Jim Tartaglia of Reedley, California at 55 points, Just behind him is Dinuba, California's Troy Regier. The 2000 and 2001 Supermodified Racing League Champion has 55 points. One further point behind is Houston, Texas campaigner Ricky Otts. Jim Birges of Fresno, California is seventh at 52 points. Tied for eighth place at 50 points are Santa Cruz, California's Rick Cameron and 2003 Rookie of the Year A.J. Russell of Clovis, California. Ron Burger of Santa Cruz rounds at the top ten at 42 points.

The next event on the SRL Calendar is the annual two day Diamond Cup race at Meridian Speedway in Idaho. Ken Hamilton should back in the Hamilton Racing Entry and he will be joined by the Idaho based teams of Mike Ford and Rick Veenstra. Additional entries are expected from Oregon's Mike McCann, Washington's Ray Stebbins and Marty Rosler, and several of the Colorado based Englewood Racing Association Teams who have participated in SRL Shows in the past. Californians Bobby Dalton and Whitey Janssen are also expected to participate. It is also traditional for several of the local Idaho Sprint Car Teams to bolt on wings and run against the Traveling Supermod Teams. The Diamond Cup is scheduled for June 4th and 5th.####
