
WILTON, California -- Davey Hamilton’s SRL Wild West Late Model Shootout will make there only stop at Madera Speedway, this coming Saturday, June 19th for race number six on the 2004 schedule. Saturday’s 100 lap race will feature 2003 winners Ryan Foster, David Philpott, and Ken Boyd on the “The Fastest 1/3 mile in the West.
Tracy’s Rick Ruzbarsky continues to sit on top of the 2004 point standings. Ruzbarsky has finished every race in the top five this year. Fresh off of his victory two weeks ago at Mesa Marin Raceway, Anderson’s Ryan Foster has moved into the second position and now trails Ruzbarsky by four points (238-234). 2002 Champion Jeff Anthony is third, while Steve Belletto sits fourth after finishing second at Mesa Marin Raceway two weeks ago. Ceres’ Ken Boyd rounds out the top five, after a tenth place finish at Mesa Marin Raceway.
Napa’s Joey Zampa currently sits sixth heading into this weekend’s race at Madera Speedway. Zampa won at Stockton 99 on March 28th. Salida’s Jeff Belletto maintains the seventh position overall. Victory Circle Rookie of the year contender Mark Smith is eight, and trails Belletto by five points. Tracy Bolin of Valley Springs, California is ninth, as Fremont’s Troy Ermish rounds out the top ten after a seventh place finish at Mesa Marin Raceway.
Mark Smith of Tracy continues to lead the Victory Circle Chassis and Parts rookie of the year points. Smith leads Bakersfield’s Mike Mason, and Roseville’s Jim Courage Jr. In addition to be crowned Rookie of the year at the season ending awards banquet, the 2004 SRL Rookie of the year will be the recipient of a brand new 2004 Victory Circle Chassis. Currently situated in a 38,000 square foot facility in Bakersfield, CA, Victory Circle Chassis and Parts, Inc. is the leader in west coast racecar chassis design and fabrication.
After qualifying third two weeks ago at Mesa Marin Raceway, Ryan Foster continues to lead the Apex Financial Qualifying Points. Kevin Vernon who set fast time at Mesa Marin Raceway is second, followed by Rick Ruzbarsky. The drivers in the series will be competing for the Apex Financial Group qualifying championship award of $5,000.00. The money will be divided between the top three in qualifying points. Apex Financial Group is based in Stockton, California and specializing in home loans and the refinancing of property.
Chad Pais leads Aaron Days, Jeremy Hopkins Jr., Justin Offenbach, and Steve Yatsko in the SRL Late Model Qualifying Race Points.
