Tom Dyer will be making his NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series debut at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA during the Nextel Cup race event this weekend. The NASCAR Southwest Series (S.W. Series) is the main support event to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race, which will be held on Saturday June 26th. Defending race winner Kevin Harvick will be back looking to repeat last year's success along with many Nextel Cup Series drivers competing in the "Infineon 200".
Dyer will be teaming up with Team BRE from Modesto, CA with sponsorship help from Cycle Shack Inc, Menards home improvement centers, Cowboy Charcoal brand natural lump charcoal, The Original Grill Pad and Leading Edge Motorsports. Dyer recently completed his one and only test in the car before the race showing very well first time in a S.W. Series stock car.
"I am looking forward to this event as it will be a new challenge in the form of slinging around a 2900 lb stock car with close to 600 horsepower around Sears Point with 42 or 43 other cars. Normally, when I am at Sears Point it's up the hill on the go-kart track driving my shifter kart. These cars are different to drive compared to those, nevertheless they are a lot of fun and I'm very grateful to everyone who is making this opportunity possible. My goals are to stay out of trouble, get a good clean pit stop and then be ready to go at the end when it counts to achieve a good finish. That's the strategy that Kevin Harvick put to good use in last years race and it obviously worked well for him. Whatever happens, I guarantee the fans will be loving every minute of it because it's always an exciting race."
Practice and Qualifying takes place Friday June 25th with green flag waving the start of the "Infineon 200" race on Saturday at 1:00 pm PST.
